Dr. Mark A. Clymer and his staff are committed to helping patients feel and look their very best. Dr. Clymer specializes in cosmetic and reconstructive surgery of the nose, face, eyelids, and head and neck.

Dr. Clymer graduated with a Bachelor of Science degree with Honors and with High Distinction from the University of Iowa, Iowa City, Iowa in 1986. He received his Doctor of Medicine degree from the University of Iowa College of Medicine in 1990.


Professional History

Dr. Clymer completed his postgraduate training at Vanderbilt University Medical Center in Nashville. This involved two years of general surgery, followed by four years of specialty training in Otolaryngology (head and neck surgery) and facial plastic surgery. Dr. Clymer pursued his interest in facial plastic and reconstructive surgery by completing his fellowship training with an emphasis on cosmetic facial plastic surgery.

Dr. Clymer has authored many scientific and medical journal articles and book chapters on a wide range of facial plastic and reconstructive surgical procedures and laser surgery. He has contributed to surgical atlases and textbooks such as Facial Plastic Surgery Clinics and Practical Aspects of Facial Plastic Surgery.

He also co-authored a textbook chapter in a leading pediatric textbook on otoplasty, or ear reshaping, commonly performed in children and young adults. He continues to be involved in educational courses both as an instructor and as a participant through his professional societies, such as the American Board of Facial Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery, to continually deliver the highest quality of care to his patients.
