Deep furrows on the forehead, frown lines over the eyes, drooping
eyebrows and hood-like skin over the eyes are all conditions that can
make you look more tired or older than you actually are. Time, gravity,
and heredity all may play a role, but regardless of the cause, a
forehead lift
(or
brow lift) can give you a more youthful, rested and
alert appearance.
Forehead lifts are usually performed under local anesthesia that is
supplemented by sedation medication.
Dr. Clymer uses the latest in endoscopic technology to perform
forehead lifts. The endoscopic forehead
(or brow) lift is performed through two small incisions, each about a
half an inch long, behind the hairline and two incisions above the ear
in the hair-bearing portion of the temple, each about two inches long.
The brow is repositioned, the muscles that cause the frown
lines between the eyes are weakened, and the incisions are
closed with surgical clips and sutures. Endoscopic forehead lifts
can be performed alone, with a
mid facial lift to improve the tired look around the eyes, or at the same
time as a
facelift.
Most patients are back to work within two weeks. Strenuous exertion
should be avoided for about a month, along with prolonged exposure to
the sun.
